Purnam Burelu(Purnalu)

Purnam Burelu is a traditional sweet prepared especially during festival times....

Ingredients:

  1. Urad Dal                     -1 cup
  2. Rice                             -2 cups
  3. Chana Dal                   -1 cup
  4. Jaggery                        -1 cup
  5. Cardamom powder     -1/4 tea spoon
  6. Salt                             -1/4 tea spoon
  7. Oil                              - for frying  

Preparation:


1.Soak Urad dal and rice together for about 4hours and grind it as thick dough(as dosa dough) and ferment it for about 8 hours.
2.Cook Chana dal for about 3/4 softness and add grated jaggery and cardamom powder stirr well till it is soft and thick.
3.Cool down the Chana dal mix and make it as a round balls.

4.Add some salt in the fermented dough and make it as thick dosa dough(don't add too much water).
5.Heat the oil for deep frying and dip the sweet chana dal balls in the dough and fry it in the oil till golden brown color.(be careful while frying, stuffing mix may come out and spill in  the oil,for this, dough  must be in the right consistency)
6.Hot purnalu can be served with hot ghee by making hole in the middle if you are not calorie conscious.
